Designed for general-purpose vibration monitoring, the epoxy-sealed piezoelectric accelerometer model 108 offers a 10 kHz bandwidth, making it ideal for use in harsh industrial environments. It employs the industry-standard ®ICP 2-wire voltage transmission technique with a 4 mA constant current supply.
The signal ground is isolated from the mounting surface to prevent ground loops. Its annular shear mode design minimizes the effects of thermal transients and eliminates spurious signals caused by high transverse vibrations.
The accelerometer features low-noise electronics and a temperature-compensated design, ensuring accurate performance across the full temperature range. A wide selection of frequency ranges is available to meet various customer requirements.
Low-frequency variants (A=9) include an integrated low-pass filter within the conditioning electronics. This filter suppresses mechanical resonance and minimizes associated distortion and overload.
Typical applications:
Ideal for walk-around vibration measurements in the demanding environments of industrial machinery monitoring.
The high-frequency version is suitable for detecting vibrations in roller bearings and pump cavitation.
The medium-frequency version is designed for general vibration monitoring on equipment such as pumps, motors, and fans.
The low-frequency model is commonly used in the petrochemical, machine tool, and paper industries to monitor slow-speed equipment like agitators and cooling towers.
Model 108 sensors are not recommended for permanent monitoring, as they use an external Faraday shield that may compromise isolation over time.
For permanent installations, Models 101, 103, 104, 105, and 107 are preferred, as they feature an internal Faraday shield for enhanced reliability.
